Flexible Seating!
This past year, our whole school moved to a flexible seating set up in our rooms. I was a little nervous at first on how that freedom would flow, especially with first graders. It is so important to have structure in your classrooms and once guidelines and expectations were set, everything went really smoothly. I loved seeing how students throughout the day would choose different spots in the class based on what they were working on. I also try to make my classroom as inviting and colorful as possible.
Having a bright and cheerful classroom makes the room feel more open and welcoming. I also do my best to stay as organized as possible. It’s important to have a space to put all of your important (and random) papers that you collect throughout the day.
